The Amherst Dance Academy Dance Team is a group of dedicated dancers who take their skills to the next level through performance, teamwork, and competition. Our team members not only grow as dancers but also as individuals, learning responsibility, commitment, and confidence along the way. Whether you're just getting started or have years of experience, there's a place for you on our team!
Inside the ADA Team Experience
Being on the Amherst Dance Academy Team starts with auditions, where dancers are placed in the team level that's the best fit for their skills. (Auditions typically involve learning short combinations, showing technique, and demonstrating performance quality.) Once placed, team members attend two weeks (ten days) of “team camp” (camp dates: end of July into August) to learn exciting new choreography for a variety of performances (performance dates: start in September)
Throughout the season, the team dances at local festivals such as the Sorghum Festival and the Kings Dominion Dance Festival, as well as our own showcases. At recital, dancers perform not only in their class dances, but also in their team dances.
